Wow - cool. Didn't know he was a musician in addition to being a guru of all things bike! He's a Renaissance man!

So what's you plan for start time for Solvang? I was just looking more closely at the web site (I also posted on BJ to see what the plan was for folks there.) Here are the "windows" (which I am sure you've already seen:

4:30-5:30am* - Pre-dawn starting window: Riders who may require more than 15 hours to complete the course are encouraged to start in this window. (My comment: this is WAY too early for a flat double, IMHO. Especially after driving the day before!)

5:30-6:30am: All riders who will require 13-15 hours (This would be my preference.)

6:30-7:30am: Riders expecting to require 11-13 hours (This would probably work, too, but I like having the "mental" advantage of an earlier start in case of "mechanical, biological or theological" breakdown.)

7:30am: All riders who want their time posted on the website must start at 7:30am. Riders under 10 hours (Um. No way.)

    What do you think?

Since it's our first double and we have no idea how long it will take, we'll probably be in the first window. I get up at 4:20 now, so an early morning is no big deal.

I was afraid you'd say that! Oh well, I am up early too, so I may well make the first window.

Let's see how we feel Friday night when we talk. I just hadn't really absorbed the fact they had all these recommended "windows". Seems very organized!!

Don't give him ideas. His piano takes up a good amount of our living room.
