I usually just order water - regular old tap water - if I'm not planning to drink. Usually I'm not charged (particularly when I'm eating) - but I've never been charged much.

+1. I typically don't drink alcohol at work functions and usually just stick to plain ol' water.

Sometimes I'll have a non-alcoholic beer - honestly they don't taste any worse to me than regular factory beer. I feel uncomfortable taking up space at the bar without ordering anything.
