Google Maps had a distance measuring tool. There's also Map My Ride (mapmyride.com). It's a bit of a pain and it works, though it tends to underestimate the steepness of hills.

I find mapmyride easiest to use, but I really haven't used ridewithgps since their big site upgrade earlier this year. In the past their elevation calculations were much more accurate than mapmyride's.
