I've been to Downtube, a few years ago when I was up there for the Tour de Cure ride and it was colder than what I was prepared for.

I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

I did my first longer ride in awhile. Just one of my usual local hilly rides, 38.4 miles. It was really nice, as most of the ride is on roads where there are very few cars. I had a late breakfast, so I didn't really eat before I left at around noon. It was kind of a bad idea, as when I got hungry, I was really hungry and we were in the middle of nowhere. So, I pulled out all of my emergency stash of stuff, I got a Luna bar and DH had a pack of nuts and cranberries and a half eaten Luna Bar from some other ride. When we stopped, it was about 64 out and then all of a sudden, it got a little cloudy, we went down a long downhill, and the temperature dropped to 55 at one point. It rose a little but he end of the ride, but at this time of year, it's amazing how fast the sun starts going away.
I passed the 2800 mile mark today. I am thinking that it actually may be possible to get to 3,000 again this year, but it really depends on weather. 200 miles is not a lot for some, but at this time of year, my riding time is a little more limited, especially if it's rained and I can't go out in the early AM because of black ice.

Saving for the next one...
Twenty-one miles for me today. The wind kicked up and made the last half pretty hard due to 14-16mph headwind. Legs a slightly cranky, but tis to be expected, last ride was over a month ago... Glad to be back out on the bike!!

Post-Thanksgiving ride on Friday: 135 miles in 12 1/2 hours (including our planned stops and the not-planned hour spent by the side of a country road in the freezing dark trying to fix a flat that took three tubes, including one being patched, to get moving again) on the tandem with my beloved. Very tired, only slightly sore though. My longest ride so far and I would (probably) do it again![]()

I would say my post Thanksgiving rides were great. I rode Thursday-Saturday, about 75 miles total. Wednesday before Thanksgiving I did a spin class, since it was raining, Tuesday I went to a strength class, and Monday I rode 10 miles at 5:15 AM.
I am tired. I took a day off today and I don't feel badly. We went to the LBS, to pick up the travel cases for our Gurus and there was a man there (a racer, in his early 50s), just slumping in a chair, hanging out. I know this guy is married and has kids, but he appeared to just be spending the day at the LBS. We talked about how warm the weather has been, and he mentioned he had "ridden a little bit more than he usually does, about 70 miles a day, since Thanksgiving." I don't begrudge him the miles, but, geez, I just wonder why he was spending the day, slumped in a chair at the bike shop, instead of doing something fun with his family.
Going to do another short ride at 5:15 tomorrow.
