    Bermuda Triangle of Cyclocomputers

    OK,
So I go out for a ride this morning. I have a new wireless computer on my bike. I know the distance function is correctly calibrated, I checked it on a known distance.

So while out riding, I stopped in to the HS where I teach to use the bathroom. I brought my bike inside the building, and when I came out, three miles were added to the distance.

HUH???? what happened? Could the network at school have interupted the wireless computer????

I don't know, but I like the way it works! Can I get one of those for running, too?

Your computer must have been close to a source of interference (or you walked by one) and it "rode" at its max distance for a while...

    Metal surfaces can cause that.

Ever read Tom Robbins' Skinny Legs and All? Maybe it went for a little jaunt without you while you were otherwise indisposed!

    Did you mean psychocomputers? :)

Electromagnetic fields do interfere with some electronic stuff that is not protected from them. I bought a wireless Giant yesterday, which was advertised as "no cross signal interference" but that's probably from another wireless unit and not interference from high voltage lines, copper networks, etc.

I looked at the Garmin 205 yesterday. They are slick and the brain is thinking. Oh, the lusting after bike gear........
