Tomorrow will be warmer around hereMore traffic though. I really had fun today just being out riding my bike in the crisp air.
Koronin, congrats on your progress! I remember when I first started riding. Less than 2 years ago I wondered if I would ever be able to break the 10 mile barrier. There isn't a perfect mileage except, perhaps, that which we can do at the time.
Catrin, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks![]()
Hey this is Zona from Alabama, I got in a nice 20 miles after dinner, weather was in the low 60's here. Beautiful day for a ride. I too loved the peacefulness of no traffic.
Koronin, I started out on a half-mile trail along with my just-learned-to-ride-a-bike son. Once we were doing that up and back five times and not stopping after every mile, I started looking for other places to ride.
Got in just over 20 miles today; it was dark by the time I was done. I'd say I should have started earlier to get more miles in but my thighs are feeling the ride, and this is very very rare; usually the only thing that hurts when I'm done are my (poor abused) knees and sometimes my sit parts. I haven't been on my bike since the WGC on 10/23 -- a month!Did two short rides in Paris [woot!] on California beach cruisers, but I guess it's just not the same.
owlice, thanks. It's a nice 3 mile route we've made here in the neighborhood. Figure we can eventually extend it in different ways without leaving the neighborhood. Once we can do that, there's a CVS store a mile or two from here and a bran new Family Dollar a bit farther in the other direction. Although both those rides would require riding on the main road. Going to the CVS isn't going to be too bad, once I'm up for that as it's a main road and somewhat busy, but other than rush hour the outside lanes in both directions aren't used too much. Going towards the Family Dollar though same road, but it's a two lane road in that direction, so that will be a bit more dangerous with traffic. Love the idea of riding there though.
got out for a little bit

27 miles this morning...Awesome ride and I am so glad I did it.
I did 10 miles on the local crushed gravel MUP. There are a fair number of ups and downs do I tried to work it hard. It was the warmest day I've seen in a month as I am 500 miles further south than I was last week. Nice!
Ordinarily this path is dead and I might see no one during my morning rides. Yesterday morning on Thanksgiving there were a lot of people on the path. Everyone was nice and friendly including me! But I did have to watch out and not go blazing around blind curves.
I think I"ll do the entire route today, which is 20 miles.

Woo hoo, I'm baaaack! First ride since my lumpectomy Tues, I decided I felt good enough for an easy 18 miles spin. Good thing I was taking it slow, because a parked car pulled out in front of me, no turn signal, only to keep turning left into a driveway across the street. I ended up in the driveway, too. When he finally noticed me and stopped, I gave him the "hairy eyeball" which he may not have noticed from behind my dark glasses. Oh well. I was in a good position to talk to him about what he could do differently to avoid running over people in the future, but I've spent enough time in the saddle to know it's just better to keep my mouth shut and move on. As I stood there trying to get into position to turn around, he told me to go (like he was doing me a favor). An apology would have been nice, but "sorry" is not in the lexicon of drivers around here. I think you could lose your license for that.
The rest of the ride was pretty good. The things I thought might be an issue, climbing and standing, were actually fine. The only discomfort was going over bumps. Makes sense. I ended up standing over them, and really bending my elbows to absorb any shock.
I'm definitely ready to ride tomorrow.

I did 14 miles yesterday on the trail. Wow, do I ever notice a difference in pavement quality between the Little Miami trail and Creekside! Ouch!
My parents borrowed my car (and consequently the bike rack) today, but I'll be getting a ride in tomorrow while it's still quite warm for this time of year.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Congratulations Red!
Yesterday I was only able to ride 8 miles, today I made it to almost 16 before my neck started hurting, yayyy! Signs of improvement. That was the best and longest ride since my injury and I will take it.
So now it is time to head to the gym and the hot tub. I was going to do some strength work, but am having a few muscle spasms from the ride. The hot tub should help.

Okay.
Just cuz I'm sure you want to see a 6.5 minute video of my butt....
Here I am on my Thanksgiving ride - on Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park, just at the D.C. line. Sections of the park are closed to vehicles on weekends and holidays. Thanksgiving - being a holiday (ahem) - had the road closed (hence the gates) and much foot traffic as folks walked/bike/jogged to justify or wear off their holiday feast.

Also, a shorter vid of DH coming up from the bottom of the park. It was a pretty section, with the creek right there. I guess the video doesn't really do it justice.

We keep playing with our new helmet cam (soon to be a bar-mounted cam).

I did 43 road miles with DH yesterday, dinner with the parents wasn't until 5:30 and we could resist light winds and a 70 degree Texas day. I wore short sleeves, no base layer and shorts. Not bragging, it is comical the silly weather we have. Sure makes up for 70+ 100 degree days this summer.
Today I went to one of my favorite trails for 10 wonderful miles of singletrack. The trails were positively sublime after getting a nice rain Tuesday! They were so dry, dusty and getting damaged from the drought but today it was hardpacked, fast and fun! No sliding in corners, no loose funky descents. It was a great day. The dogs and their people seemed to be loving it to. Saw a beautiful rottweiler, funny little doxie, got herded by a Aussie named Jake, several lovely mutts and some well mannered boxers. I love sharing the trail!![]()

I didn't ride yesterday, but I did 23 miles today, taking Madei on another ride. The weather was gorgeous for riding, especially considering that it's the end of November.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Was extremely busy yesterday. Just had enough time to do 8 miles before sunset. But it was good. Also went to the gym in the morning.
Up since 6:15 a.m awaiting for sunrise to go ride early today. As soon as the daylight appears... I am out the door.![]()
