Gosh, everyone's been having such an up-and-down time with hospitals lately. My friend is still in the hospital... things are still very scary (kind of par for the course for a heart transplant candidate, I guess), but it's better than the very, very, very scary month-or-so he just made it through.
Being in the hospital over the holidays stinks even more than usual.
Hoping to spend some time with him this weekend.

My mom's surgery seemed to go well, and she should get out of ICU today and back to the "step-down" unit. This time she has a drain and THREE chest tubes, she only had 2 last time... Hopefully this will be the real beginning of her recovery. As hard as it is to watch her go through this, it is even harder to imagine what it is like to be the one going through this...
