In diabetics (diabetic cats specifically ), breath smelling of ammonia/acetone (like nail polish remover) is a sign of ketoacidosis, and is dangerous. But I've read that high protein diets, like Atkins, consider this a sign that you're burning fat, and is therefore a good thing. Yeah, if your doctor comes up with anything interesting, pass it along.
