Brandi - From reading your posts, I can tell you have a Texas-sized heart (big) and a generous soul. You always make me smile.
Even though I'm a "dog girl" with three big fluffly golden retrievers, I love your kitty cat avatar photo.

    Well said Brandi!

I spend a lot of time on a male dominated motorcycling board and find myself running to TE for the wit, caring, and compassion here. TE is truly a unique place is cyberspace.

+1 Not into motorcycling, but the male-dominated cycling boards are a real change from what happens here. Well-said Brandi.

Brandi - you said it wonderfully! The women on this forum welcome you with open arms. It is amazing.

Sydney - I was thinking the same thing while I was out riding today. Those boards seem to have an absurd amount of discussion about "freds". I've heard no mention of that here - or any other derogatory terms for that matter - what a relief. Isn't it funny - the men seem to be "catty" and the women are not. I love that!

Hmm, a quick whirl over at bikeforums reveals that the term Fred appears to be used to describe any non-elite non-racer biker who may not wear matching team kit, may be riding a bike worth less than $3K, and might even *gasp* have hairy legs!!!

Gah, I almost got testosterone poisoned after spending 5 minutes over there.

I just let out such a loud laugh that my husband came in and said that my forum sounds like way more fun than the ones he's on. Is "ones" a word?

Yep - you described it perfectly! It's pretty stifling over there, isn't it???

HA. Poor guys. What percent of them can be elite enough to be the "non-freds" on their board? So the rest of them have to brag about stuff to keep them out of fred-ness? Of course, the great thing is...it's so easy to lie in cyberspace! Uh, yeah, my bike cost...um, a ga-zillion dollars. Even the wheels are carbon. My shoes? Carbon. Also my bike shorts.

This board is great. The guys probably lurk over here when they need to feel some love! Lise

My husband just said what if there are some women on this site who might not be women! It really made me laugh. By the way he is a Fred!
A guy once suggested e shave he's legs to keep the ticks off of him, He said " Just what I need for my wife to complain about the stubble on my legs too".

My husband has a similar opinion about shaving his legs. He said he's changing his signature to "I am Fred".

You should see the speeds they post. And - oh how they love to brag about how low their body fat% is. It's nauseating.

It's nice to have a cyberhome where you can be honest.

My husband wants to know what site you are at. Do we brag? I don't think so. By the way I corrected my spelling in my first thread up top there. No one said anything? Well that's the type of women we are. We bring eachother up not down.
