Dear Neck: Get over it already. I am taking care of you and even following medical advice (for a change). You see, we COULD have gone down to my favorite mountain bike trail tomorrow and played in the woods...doesn't that sound like a lot more fun than riding on flat and wind-protected hard-packed crushed limestone? Hmmmm? Winter is coming and I really would like to mountain bike before it is too late to do so. Thank you for listening.
Dear Self: Be patient. You won't forget how to mountain bike if you can't do it right now. Better patience now and allow your neck to heal. Otherwise you take a chance of having a hard fall again before your body is healed and winding up with permanent damage and not be able to cycle again. Ever. Think of THAT when you get impatient
Hiking is good. Perhaps not as exciting but it is good. Go hike mountain bike trails you've not ridden yet to see what they look like

the most amazing thing happened yesterday, our younger son (who teaches and studies for his PhD in Canada) appeared and said he'd stay the week! It's just what older son and I needed, someone to help out. And Donald is so happy.. ah, so am I!!!
