Hi Biciclista, How long should it take for my post to show up on the 'Getting to know you' page? I posted something yesterday or day before yesterday and don't see it anywhere here. Does it take that long?

    New Here

    Okay, so here I am.

New lurker, new road cyclist, new everything.

I've known about Team Estrogen for quite a while, but I finally got a REAL road bike (mountain bike'd a bit back around 2004-2006; rode a vintage 1960s Western Flyer around a bit the last couple of years)

Anyway, I FREAKING LOVE MY BIKE! Did I mention that I love my bike?

It's winter in Minnesota. I've been out Saturday, Sunday, and today. (Got the bike about two weeks ago, snow on the roads till Saturday). I'm so stoked! And so bummed that winter is COMING!

I'm riding a Scott Contessa Speedster 15 with eggbeaters (nothing else mod'ed yet) and I'm loving it! First ride was a 20 miler, and I thought I was going to be dying the next day, but I wasn't, so I took it out for a ride Sunday, around 16 miles, and today I dashed out of work for half hour and did 8 miles, including stop lights!

    Okay. I'm done being stoked.

I keep trying to upload a pic of my bike, and the forum keeps saying "upload failed". I'll figure it out eventually.

In the meantime, I'm too excited to not share!

Explanation of your handle: I used to do a lot of rock climbing, and it's part of my gmail username. Didn't seem UN-fitting for a bike forum, but I'm NOT a hill climber on the bike yet!

Explanation of your avatar: Tried to put up a pick of my bike. We shall see if it works?

    Age (general or specific): 36

    Occupation: Editor

Favorite bike: Favorite bike that I own? My beautiful new Scott Contessa Speedster 15 that I just got a couple of weeks ago.

What's in your stable? Above-mentioned Scott, and a vintage (1960s I think) Western Flyer 5-speed with twist grip shifters that weighs about 45 pounds and is slow and clunky and falling apart but still awesome!

Fastest speed on a road bike? No real idea, as I have not yet acquired a bike computer, but I went down a big hill really fast and was scared. A little.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? At some point here....

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I don't have THAT much wool!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Just started road biking, so it's all memorable. But I do remember being a kid, and riding a kids bike that had the handlebars off center, and I tried to make the handlebars go "straight", which of course made the wheel turn significantly, and landed me face first on an asphalt path and took all the skin off my nose, forehead and chin!

Most fun ever had on a bike? My first road ride ever, last Saturday, was AWESOME! About 18 miles, in 36 deg weather, and it was just AWESOME! I LOVED it!

What's in your stable? As of 8 hours ago - Woman's 2012 Trek Allant

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Oh I dunno. Maybe 2.5 mph during my test ride?

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have any on this laptop.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: " That (dress, pair of jeans, shirt) looks great on you!"

Most memorable moment on my bike: So far, just buying one.

Most fun ever had on a bike? When I was a kid, it was just riding as fast as I could - zig zagging- through some ditches.

    Real name: Jean

Where do you live? Nashua NH

Explanation of your handle: Well, my name is Jean, and had brain freeze, thus the unimaginative handle

Explanation of your avatar: I just like it. It’s me, on a borrowed Yeti, at the 2006 (?) 24Hours At Great Glen race.

    Age: 51

Occupation: Jewelry designer, part time bike shop worker & window treatment consultant

Favorite bike: would love a Yeti SB66

What's in your stable? Mtb: 2004 Klein Palomino; road: 2009 Trek 5000; Touring: my old Fuji League

Fastest speed on a road bike? 45ish unconfirmed – I didn’t have a bike computer at the time, but I was a little behind a friend, and he said he hit 48 down the hill. Where? Don’t remember, a weekend friends ride. When? Summer 2010

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Oh, dear, adding a photo is beyond my skill level.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Wow. I love you too. But, after a good while, I did.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I had to think about this one. I going to say the first day of the Great Divide tour I did w/my friend Beth. (I only did 8 days, she did the whole thing.) We started climbing the first pass in the mountains in Montana, and the weather changed from sunny & warm at the bottom, to rain & thunder, to sleet, to a light snow; and as we were climbing, I did a stupid thing, I got all three pairs of gloves wet. So, riding down the other side of the pass, wet gloves + speed = frozen hands. I had to take off the gloves and wrap bandannas around my hands. We also had to navigate around a pick-up truck w/a flat tire on a narrow road, & past fallen rocks, to the totally deserted camp ground, where all the wood was too wet to make a fire.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Ha, ha, ha! See above!!
