Not sure about the temperature difference, but it's also a good thought. I do know that carbon posts can creak, and can only imagine that carbon seat rails and a carbon post could only make the surface area larger and much more noisey. While I personally own a couple of bikes with carbon posts, I've never heard any noise issues... but I've always used the carbon paste.

+1 to Ridebike me. I have a squeaky carbon post on my Ti bike. Carbon past (it's like grease with a little grit in it..) takes care of it.

Hiya, i had that problem as well, couldn't stop it for love nor money. Took it to the bike shop and he said, "Squirt some WD40 on it", so that's what i did, sorted it straight away. Oil didn't work or grease only WD40.
