For real compression there's CW-X. They're longer, pretty much knee length on my short legs, and priced like technical gear.
My favorite compression-style shorts are adidas, but both styles I really like are discontinued. Figures.

I have purchased UA women's compression shorts from my local Sports Authority. I too, prefer the longer 7-inch version. I wear a pair underneath my capri workout pants at the gym...I like the extra thigh support they offer, as it cuts down somewhat on the dreaded "thigh jiggle".![]()

The ones I run in are the Ventilators. (Why are they so much higher?!) If I'm wearing knee-length shorts on a 20-miler (which it's mostly the longer runs I wear those for) on a 90° day, I want as much ventilation as possible! But I love my CW-X. The Ventilator tights are what I ran in on Sunday.![]()

+2 on the CWX.
I have SKINS, 2XU. CW-X is by far the most compressive fit. Ran in them on Sunday. Love them and I will get more.
