why are some people so stupid

    (aka a very bad day)

Yesterday, I came home to find that someone had broken in and taken my laptop computer, MP3 player, and camera. Not broken in, really-- seems that I had left the back door unlocked that morning. But how stupid were they: 2 bikes were in plain sight, as well as several musical instruments, all worth more than the electronics. Harder to hide, though...

Weird item #1: All the stuff they took was on the coffee table in the living room. My dog spends the day sleeping under the coffee table. He's old and deaf, and somehow slept through the whole thing. And how brazen do you have to be to do your theft around a sleeping dog??

Weird item #2: When I went to console the cats with some catnip in the evening, I noticed one other thing they took: a big jar of homegrown catnip. They must have thought it was pot. I hope they try to smoke it. Hope it makes them sick, too.

BTW, I have contacted my bank and card folks, as well as the police. What a pain. But now I have a new (if cheap) laptop, and the cop had a giggle when I added the catnip to the list of stolen items...

ugh, now to be extra careful with locking as they know your place. We bought super cheap alarms at radio shack, granted you have to activate with a key but they make a horrid shriek if you open the door when they are on. Even the dog would hear it! Of course it would freak out the cats and they already are missing their catnip
If you see someone rolling around in the grass call the police - ha, ha

Ugh. Sorry that happened to you.

Don't forget to change any passwords that might've been stored on your computer. Hope they catch the a-holes, not that that's likely or anything.

+1 on changing all passwords on your computer sites.

The thought of some jerks trying to smoke catnip made my day. I'm glad you are okay and they didn't steal your bikes. ((HUGS))

I am so sorry! The idea of the idiots thinking they hit the jackpot with a big load of pot when it is really catnip made me snicker.

I'm so sorry you had someone break into your home and steal several items. However, the catnip is pretty funny.

I'm glad they were stupid enough to leave the bikes and the musical instruments.

Hope the catnip gives them a sore throat, makes them howl at the moon & scratch the ground before they pee. What a bunch of morons. Sounds like kids.

One time I had my car broken into & they took my mp3, cell phone and my spinning shoes. Spinning shoes?? Really? They had already ordered a bunch of porn from my phone by the time I noticed it (2 hours later.) Verizon didn't make me pay for it.
