What an awesome and inspirational story! Thanks so much for sharing.

When we were rail trail riding last Friday, there were a ton of seniors on the trail. It was really nice to see. Sure, most of them were poking along, but I think it's super awesome that they were out there, regardless of speed!!! I made sure to smile and nod to each one I passed...I hope they know that someone is out there cheering them along.

I said to my husband afterwards that I hope we'll be out there like that too when we're senior citizens.

For the 100-yr. old marathon runner (in toronto), I found what he said was amusing:

He said he achieved this through the help of God but even God must be getting fed up of helping him,” Harmander Singh said, drawing chuckles from assembled media after the race.
And for the guy from San Diego,

He picked up his son’s 10-speed, started pedaling and never quit.

“You have to make it a discipline,” he said. “It’s like eating, sleeping and sex. Bicycling is one of the four things you can’t do without

You are also never too old to race in a Spider-Man or Batman costume.

Also speedy healing to Ed Whitlock, who holds the 80-year-old marathon record with 3:15:54.

... I wish some more of these stories were about older women. Other than Sr. Madonna Buder, I can't remember seeing coverage about any older women athletes at all. There was an interesting short documentary on LinkTV the other day about women's sports - the history and the current coverage - but they didn't talk about master's athletes. I wish I'd caught the title so I could find it again. Maybe it was an excerpt from Not Just a Game - it was shown during a fundraising drive, so it's possible it wasn't the whole show.
