Wow - that is an amazing accomplishment! I really think it's a wonderful idea and a way to keep the community engaged and active. I'd love to see something like that in my neighborhood- I would sign up in a heartbeat!

Awesome job. My older son did the Trike-a-thon when he was in VPK and I am hoping the school does it again now that my younger child is there. Just not right now as I tapped everyone out with Cub Scout popcorn sales. I keep wishing the Cub Scouts would do something like this - a hike or bike a thon - seems more fitting to me than popcorn sales.
Wow very cool! Nice to have such great community involvement. What I really like is that the kids themselves are actively participating in their own fundraising. Seems like the ones I was involved with rarely got the kids involved. What great ownership for them and what a good way for them to learn to actively support their school/community, etc.
Great job!

thanks y'all. and yes, i do love this event primarily because the kids are active and involved and it's not just selling something to neighbors and family. and because it's awesome to see the covered play-area covered with hundreds and hundreds of bikes

and i just realized tonight that my handy dandy spreadsheet wasn't adding in totals from two of the 2nd grade classes, which brings our actual pledged and raffle total to $17,500(!!) and the mileage to 1295 miles, which is Portland to Lincoln, NebraskaSo far, it looks like we've raised about $15,500, but that will likely go up - a number of people turned in the permision slips but didn't submit their pledges in advance. And 81% of 457 students rode their bikes or scooters for 3244 laps this morning, collectively riding 1140 miles, which is about the distance of Portland to San Francisco, roundtrip! Woot!hurrah!
