Feeler -44 cm Bianchi San Jos8 (Sheldon Brown (RIP) Style)

    Good morning, everyone!

Although I have no pictures yet, here's a teaser of what I'm going to be selling. I have a 44cm Bianchi San Jose 8 speed. It's a 2010 model, dark blue, and the last year Bianchi offered the San Jose in a petite 44cm. These bikes were sold as single speed bikes with horizontal drop outs.

I lovingly converted it myself to an 8 speed this past winter with a Shimano Nexus internal geared hub. The hub is laced to a limited production Velocity A23 silver rim 32 hole and the front wheel is the same rim with the beautiful White Industries H2 silver polished hub. A Jtek shifter is mounted on the end of the drop bars. I also have a matching single speed wheel with the beautiful polished silver Velocity Eno Standard hub. This is not a flip-flop hub, but it does come with a White Industried Eno 21T freewheel. A super sweet set up! You can use it as an 8 speed or a single (not fixed geared) speed bike.

Here's what else the bike has:

Brakes: I switched out the Avid Shorty 4s, and mounted Paul Touring Cantis
Bars: 38cm 3T Ergonova Pro drop bars
    Brake Levers: Tektro Compact
    Crank: Sugino 42T
Rear Rack: Tubus Logo with attached Busch Mueller Toplight rear tail light.
Fenders: SKS, painstakingly fitted -- if you know these fenders, you know what I mean -- think goodness for dremel tools!

I spent much of the winter contemplating and executing this bike make-over and am really thrilled with the results. I'm getting ready to order my new custom super commuter/touring bike for my 50th birthday, and just need to thin the herd.

I'm thinking of posting this for sale for $1200 with the single speed rear wheel but all is negotiable.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for looking!

    Have a great day!

    Adding Pictures

Would you believe this is one of the first nonrainy days we've had? Finally, got to take some pics.

Stand over height is about 27.5 inches. It should fit someone 4'10" to 5'4", I'm guessing.

There are lots of other things to say about some of the additions, so if interested PM me and I can fill you in on the rest.

Thanks! I actually have two of these bikes built up the same. I just ordered my commuter warrior Spectrum from Tom Kellogg, so it's time to part with one of these Bianchis. It's too bad Bianchi stopped making these fine steel bikes in a size 44cm. I thought we smaller women were finally making significant headway in the market, and then a manufacturer like Bianchi decides to pull out of it. The ironic thing is that I've been a die-hard bike commuter for over a dozen years, and each year I'm seeing and chatting with more and more women on the bike paths.
