A charity ride isn't at all like a race. No one is paying attention to where they are placed. Some riders spend a long time at rest stop and waste huge amounts of time, others don't stop at all. I just did a charity ride today. The people doing the longer distances tend to be more time-focused, but no one seems to be gunning for the finish on the shorter rides. Just go and have fun and enjoy being around other bikers and talking to them. This may sound mean, but no one is paying attention to you. People are focused on themselves and how they look and are riding that day.
