I get one almost every time I ride, too. But I've been riding for 6 years, so it's not a novice thing- it's a right foot clipping out thing. Most people I know unclip with their left foot down- I put my right foot down (since I'm left side dominant) so it's on the drivetrain side and therefore more apt to get tattooed.

I would LOVE to get a chainring tattoo (permanent- not just temporary).

Another right unclipper with nearly permanent chain grease tatto on my right leg.

Would love to have a bunch of temporary ones. Real one, unfortunately, are beyond the pale according to my husband and children and on my upbringing.

I am another right unclipper...but somehow have learned how to avoid the chain when stopping. I didn't realize that until reading this. I like the idea of a real tatoo though, may have to look into this. Then again, I don't heal as easily as I once did so perhaps a temporary would be better.

There are lots of places online that will make custom temporary tattoos - I found this one that has the chain ring grease mark - haha: http://www.tatsandtags.com/bicycle-tattoos-2.html It also has 3 pages of other cycling related temporary tattoos. Here's what the chain grease tattoo looks like:
