I don't own the workout - DvDs you mentioned - but I could imagine that they are comparable to the Making the cut/Ripped in 30 workouts I regularly do, because the exercises sound very similar. They are based on a mixture of strength and cardio training while keeping the intensity high and the heart rate up.
I really notice a difference in my biking and running since I do regular strength training. I was so impressed with the results that I am cutting back on pure cardio workouts like running to get more days of strength training into my schedule than I thought I would in the beginning.
