    Red face Retail therapy

Have been worried sick about the wildfires in central Texas, burning within 1 mile of my Dad's house. Sick enough that I couldn't concentrate and had to leave the office.

So I engaged in some retail therapy. After yesterday's great ride, where I had to guess at distance and time, I knew I needed a new bike computer. And I needed to be away from a computer. So I went to my LBS and bought a new wireless computer, and had them install it. While the friendly mechanic was working on my bike, I looked, JUST looked, at shiny new bikes. Then talked to friendly mechanic about changing out bikes.

Maybe selling my 3 speed and getting a hybrid.... Or turn my current road bike, a Specialized Allez Sport, into a commuter bike and maybe get a new road bike. Or as he suggested, just add another bike to the stable.

Now I just need to take my bike, with it's new computer, out for a spin. It even tells the temperature. And has font big enough to read with my middle-aged bad eyes. No, I will not wear reading glasses while I ride!!!

congrats! I'm glad retail therapy worked for you. I know someone who lost her home...just this weekend in Texas.
she and her husband had enough sense to leave in two cars, so they didn't lose their vehicles.

Sweet! Is it a Sigma by any chance? That is what I have and I love it. Sounds like you had a good time at your retail therapy session

Word from Dad - the house is still standing although the fire got fairly close. They don't have electricity yet, and are told to boil water. They were allowed home today, but won't stay as it's a tad warm and smokey in the house. Neighbor came over earlier and cleaned out the frig and freezer, so at least it isn't gross. Estimate is that electricity might be restored tomorrow. Last I heard, 1,300+ homes/businesses have been destroyed.

    Back to cycling
Only had one bike ride. It's still in the car. Saturday morning is looking good....

Forgot to mention I also bought myself some new gloves.
