I've been pushing myself to ride harder, longer and more hills

This is from a ride last night, the route is taken in part from the book "Dirt Road Washtenaw" by Rob Pulpicher. I've included this photo from the book and elevation data from MapMyRide. I began this ride from a local elementary school just 3 miles from home. The route had at least a dozen hills. In Michigan our hills aren't very long but they can be steep. I posted about this ride in my blog. This route'll help you build legs.

    Yes.

And riding down the backside it was followed by a hill as steep but not quite as high, I went up that hill without even pushing the pedals around one time. The ride was a real roller coaster. 24 mph downhill on dirt is a bit...shall I say...thrilling? Or maybe hanging on for dear life

Oh hey! We live in the same area - will definitely give that path a try. Michigan hills can definitely be steep - just because we don't have mountains doesn't mean it's not tough! Congrats on the ride!

Oooo wicked little hills. There are a few in St. Louis, well hidden until they are staring you in the face and you don't have proper momentum. Keep up the great work

Caddy, there is a meetup group of riders some out of Ann Arbor who ride dirt roads and quiet byways and there is a ride coming up Sept 10th to ride the Border to Border trail in Washtenaw County from Gallup Park to downtown Ypsilanti at Riverside Park. Here is the link http://www.meetup.com/Back-Roads-Rid...ents/30256611/ and a map of the B2B trail can be found at this link http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...,0.109692&z=13

If you are available consider joining us for the ride. 7 are signed up so far.

Bike Writer that's awesome. I hope your weather permits you to ride for a lot longer this year.
I like bikes, sometimes more than my husband
