Ridden the Northwest Tandem Rally a couple of times and there are always a few Bike Friday tandems. People who have them love them and they ride really well. We have a Co-Motion with couplers so that it comes apart, making it smaller/manageable for travel.

My husband just rode the Bike Friday Triple Family Traveler up Mt. Washington with no issues...
If it can make it up there, they're probably pretty durable! (Also folded nicely for the drive down.)
