Talking 63 miles, 8300 feet of Climbing

We rode the Ebbetts Pass Metric today. Absolutely beautiful course, not a lot of riders and well supported.

I haven't done anything with this much climbing since I stopped doing doubles in 2007. I was really thrilled with how well we rode it.

I did have some elevation issues as we got up near Ebbetts Pass - 8700 feet. I was beginning to feel a little dizzy on the bike. I stopped twice, turns out, just below the summit. So glad I kept going because I was so close.

Pacific Grade was tough. I watched a lot of riders weaving across the road in the 24% sections. Happily I stayed in my lane and made it all the way with no stops.

Should have a few pictures to post tomorrow. It was bit overcast in the morning and by the time we had good light, we were ready to just finish up the ride.

I hope my schedule is such that we can come back and do it again next year.

wow! good for you, did a similar climb on Emerson pass in NM, 8,883 feet with a 15 mile hair pin descent where we had to stop every fifth hair pin and let the wheel rims cool. Quite a feeling of accomplishment. Hope you get the chance to do it again and well done on this one.
