Being back at work is hard and I am tired...

I've had a great last five days of training though.

Saturday I went for my longest continuous run -no walking! - ever. It was 8.5 miles. I'm working on learning to pace myself better. I have a history of going too hard in the run, blowing up and walking. Next run will be 10+ miles.

Sunday we rode with the local club. I wanted to stay with the fast guys as long as I could. We hung with them for ten miles - until Thom got a flat. It was hard, but fun at the same time. And I took my turn pulling; I got out first at a light early on and did a nice steady twenty mph for a bit. The pace line had been doing 22 - 24 mph, but I knew there was no way I could do that on the front for more than 3 seconds.

Monday I did my interval run with Thom. Last week we lengthened the length of the intervals. This week I dropped ten seconds from my times the first week. I know part of that is just learning how to pace myself for the longer interval, but I'm still happy to see improvement.

Tuesday - tough leg workout with Shawna. Things like 2 minutes jump rope with the WEIGHTED rope. It gets heavy. 45 leg extensions at a "light"weight. Those made me want to cry. Plus oodles of other stuff.

Wednesday - I've been on a high all day. Shawna did my measurements again this morning. All my measurements - except my waist have gone down since last Feb. - my last measurement day. I've lost 4 pounds since then, but gained a pound of lean mass. I'll never be a twig with 120 pounds of lean mass. But I only have 23 pounds of fat! What I'm really excited about is I have lost 4 inches off my hips and an inch off each thigh. No wonder my bike shorts fit like crap now!

That was followed by a killer upper body workout that just fried my shoulders. But they'll get over it.

Dang girl! Only 23 pounds of fat, four inches off your hips and an inch off your thighs? That's amazing. You need to post updated before and after shots!

    Thanks!

I think the photos here are still pretty accurate. Maybe a little more definition in the shoulders, arms and abs. My thighs are smaller and you can see that there are muscles there.

I'm going to work at dropping 5 more pounds through the winter. I think I need to be just a little more vigilant about my sweets. But I think mostly it will come from the increased cardio - running and riding I'll be doing. I figure the lighter I can get, the easier my tris should be.
