    Knee tendonitis

Ok, so I think I have a touch of knee tendonitis...though I'm not really sure. It all started about 2 weeks ago, when I tried out my new SI Turbomatic saddle. It was quite a bit thicker than the Specialized Ruby that was on there, thus sitting me a bit higher than normal. I didn't want to mess with the saddle height because it was perfect for my Ruby, so I just left it (which I now realize was DUMB!). It took me a while to really notice it, and by the time I did...I think the damage was done. I had started to feel the classic "behind the knee" pain in both of my knees. After that ride, the Ruby went back on my bike and I was back to my normal saddle positioning. But now I'm still feeling some residual effects, but only behind my right knee...the left one feels fine. I had my DH take a look at it, since I can't really get a good peek at it...and he said it looks noticeably puffier in that area compared to the left side. I've been icing it like crazy, but I'm beginning to get a bit concerned. The fact that I rode lots of miles (258) over the past 3 days, hasn't helped for sure. Obviously, I feel a lot more strain and stress on it when climbing hills or pushing a big gear...so I consciously tried to avoid doing those things on today's ride. But it has gotten to where I'm walking with a slight limp now. Any ideas on what this could be? Does it sound like tendonitis? Are there any home remedies I can try, such as foam rolling, or specific stretches?

If it's still hurting after two weeks see your doctor ASAP especially since you are limping. It also could be a tight hamstring and needs stretched out with some gentle stretching or you sprained something.

I would stop riding for now until you know what is going on. You don't want to injure your knees or surrounding muscles more than they already are.

nscrbug sorry to hear that you are having problems. It sounds like you are referring to Posterior Knee Pain, and as you've already explained it maybe caused by too high of a saddle and the saddle being to far back, which are two of the causes of stress on the biceps tendon and Posterior Knee Pain. It may take sometime for the swelling to go way but it should get better as long as you've resolved the saddle high and aft issue, also stay away from steep climbing until you are completely healed, and if it does not get better you may need to take few days off the bike.

Rest, rest, rest. Best medicine in the world. Let yourself heal! I see on these postings too many people complaining about their issues but not allowing time to let their body rest and heal itself. If after a couple of days it's still bothering you go to the doctor. But don't push it and try to find out what the problem is before biking again.
    Good luck!
