    I'm back & hello

Hey Ladies! I just wanted to post a quick hello.

Since my accident in '07, I have struggled with my riding. There were many things I had to work toward doing again after my injuries, and I just didn't seem to be able to get my love for cycling back. Then, with the stresses at work, just living life seemed to be all I could deal with. Well, I finally decided I was not going to let a negative circumstance determine how I lived my life, and I left that job (wasn't making any money anyway - commission furniture sales are in the gutter right now). It was a good decision for me - for now.

I was able to find the strength after my accident to do many things the doctors told me I would *never* be able to do. A lot of that strength came from the encouragement and caring of you on this forum, in the way of cards, letters, prayers, even books.

I want to get my cycling mojo back. Lily (my beautiful Gunnar Sport) is just sitting there, lonely, waiting for me to take her back out. I have taken her to our little spot in the woods (where my dso is now), and will be re-united with her this weekend. We will be vacationing for the next ten days or so, and plan to do some short rides. I would appreciate any positive vibes you could send my way.

    Thank you ~ jeannierides

I ride with a woman who had a serious bike accident in 2006, sending positive thoughts your way. Some days she is fine others are a struggle, Sounds like you are aware of that. Best of luck look forward to hearing the success story!

    Hi Jeannierides!

I remember you and your accident, and even your job. Good for you leaving it as it didn't sound good.

How delightful to see you back here on TE. Welcome back! I also stayed away from cycling for awhile after my own cycling accident and then my father's death (in a car accident) in 2005, but it is such a passion of mine I couldn't stay away forever. Hope you enjoy restarting riding your lovely Lily!

    Best wishes,
    Emily

Welcome back! I remember your accident. Sometimes physically and mentally it takes a long time to get back to where you are ready to try again. Ease in, smile and have fun! Have a great vacation.

Thank you all so very much!! It brings tears to my eyes to read your thoughtful posts.
Emily, I remember your accident also, and your dad's death... Glad to hear you are back to your bike. Margo, I was just looking the other day at the lovely coffee table book on Israel that you sent... Selkie, I was just going through my books the other day, and am passing on some of those you sent while I was in rehab... Someone else to read and love... Amanda & Beth, great to see you.
Lily and I are planning to go out with my SO and his Colnago tomorrow (his birthday). I have mixed feelings, but he is already planning a ride in Jamestown (Williamsburg) on
Tuesday with his group... Not sure if I'm ready for that... We'll see. I want to get the love back... Have fun and laugh...
Oh, Emily, it definitely was past time to leave the job... It was the right decision. At some point, I'm going to have to find another one, but for now, I'm going to enjoy the reprieve.

Will try to post more... You gals are inspiring!

    Jeannie
