Ha, I had a ride this past Spring where I thought I must be getting sick. I had a bit of a headwind, but I was STRUGGLING to go 3mph slower than my average pace. At one point I stopped and realized that one of my brakes was a bit askew and rubbing. By this point I had already turned for home, since I was trashed.

You know what this made me think of?

Is anyone here old enough to remember when Steve Martin used to do the comedy albums - literally RECORD ALBUMS?

Anyway, one of his jokes on an album went something like this:

"I have written several books. When I wrote my book "The Apple Pie Hubbub" I started using VERBS. My novels really brightened up after that".

    So, I say:

"The bike shop figured out my rear brakes were constantly on during my ride and unstuck them for me. My pace really brightened up after that".

Brake rubbing happens to all of us at some point so not to fret. The positive side is you got a really good work out.

Do go ride with your brother and just to be fair, I think you should tweak his brakes a bit so that its rubbing. Then you can really smoke him.
