She had to stop after 29 hours.
But still; I kept thinking; "I slept all night and she was swimming", "I ate breakfast, went to work, had lunch, kept working, finished my work day; and she's still swimming", "I'm getting ready for bed... and SHE"S STILL SWIMMING". An unbelievable accomplishment.

I just saw the interview they did with her on CNN. She apparently was having severe asthma attacks, which she'd never before had in the water, for 11 hours. Then she was having shoulder issues as well.
The thing that's kind of sad is that she said she doesn't plan to try again.
Amazing effort in any case.
Speed comes from what you put behind you. - Judi Ketteler
I heard on NPR that she hit unexpectedly high currents which took her off course. With an event this long she'd go through every available source of energy no matter what she eats. When she reaches the end she'd be drawing energy from her muscles, basicly eating them![]()
There's no room for error or to go off course and "oh, I'll just swim another 20 miles or so ..."
Amazing effort!![]()
Can we get her here to post to the "Is there anyone here over 60?" thread? Has anyone read her training regime? Astounding.

Too bad! I still think she's amazing, and I'm glad she's safe.
