    Bike Friday Tandem

Anybody have any experience with a Bike Friday tandem?

I'm thinking that in my constrained little universe a folding tandem is probably the best way to go.

I've known one couple who had a BF tandem and absolutely loved it, rode everywhere on it, and had no transportation or storage issues.

Storage is a big factor. I've got bikes in the kitchen, in the closet, under the stairs, in the bedroom... any tandem I get (someday) will have to fit inside my 990 sq ft apartment. With all the other bikes.

I've seen a few. They are called Twosday, I believe. They used to make a nifty recumbent tandem called the Saturday. I've ridden one of those. The stoker is higher than the captain, allowing the stoker a full view of the world.

I'm very pleased with my single Bike Friday.

Depends how you store it. We manged in an apartment to hang our normal tandem vertically down the wall by the front wheel, therefore taking no more room than a normal bike. Just make sure the hook is high enough.

Tandems can also fit in elevators by holding the bike vertically on the rear wheel and allowing the front wheel to "flop" over.

Ridden the Northwest Tandem Rally a couple of times and there are always a few Bike Friday tandems. People who have them love them and they ride really well. We have a Co-Motion with couplers so that it comes apart, making it smaller/manageable for travel.

    No derailler and unknown size.
Ebay sellers who can't write an accurate description make me roll my eyes.

My husband just rode the Bike Friday Triple Family Traveler up Mt. Washington with no issues... If it can make it up there, they're probably pretty durable! (Also folded nicely for the drive down.)
