Symptoms of "done" shorts?

Interesting topic, I've been starting to wonder the same thing about my favorite pair of shorts (PI Elite). Have only had them a little over a year, but they have been used for many, many spinning classes and even more bike rides. They, like all of my shorts, have never seen a dryer.

I've been noticing lately that I must use far more chamois cream than at one time, so am thinking that the chamois is finally getting worn or thinning a bit.

My problematic shorts have the same chamois. It's a nice chamois when new, but I'm thinking I should be able to expect more miles out of it. I'm guesstimating that I have 2000ish miles on these shorts.

Yep, I have about 2,300 miles on the shorts. I've yet to find another brand or type of chamois that my butt likes so much though - but what it wants it gets. I would like to try the PRO chamois, but am leery to spend the extra money.

My 2-piece Terry mountain bike shorts are great, but get very hot on the road but are great for mountain biking (at least at my level). The Terry Liberators just aren't thick enough - or at least not in the right places.
