You all talk about these different organized rides. I have never done one and I am very curious. There is century etc... What would be a good kind for a 16mph girl? And does anyone know of rides on the central coast. San luis obispo to be exact.

    Brandi -

The SLO Bike Clubs (or "SLOBs") puts on a couple of great rides every year. I have done the Lighthouse Century which was fantastic, and they also have a Wildflower century (not to be confused with the Chico Velo Wildflower Century or the Wildflower Tri).

Both the SLO rides sell out quickly so registering early is advised. I think they both have metric century distances also (at least Lighthouse did), which might be a good place to start for you if you have not done an organized ride.

Also, the Solvang Century is great - I think they have both spring and fall. That's not too far for you. (I grew up in Paso Robles so I know the area pretty well).

I'd suggest getting involved with some of the SLOBs club rides. I bet they would be great.

Best place I have found to find organized rides is:

    http://www.bbcnet.com/RideCalendar/RideListDate.asp

This lists organized rides, locations, etc. and has links to register for the rides. A great resource!

    Hey Brandi!

There are quite a few rides within an hour or two of where you are. I'm doing the Windmill Century in Los Alamos in July. There is also a nice ride in Ojai on June 3rd. I'd be doing that one too but decided to trapse up to Little Red Riding Hood in Utah instead.

It really depends on how far you're willing to travel! Also, you should read through the getting to know you thread - I'm sure I remenber another member near you somewhere. If she's not on the board much, you can still e-mail or PM her and maybe find a good ride partner!
