I love to cook and eat and so does DH. Almost everything i make is easy, made from Cooking Light, particularly the fast recipes, or Food and Wine. I hardly use the recipes I used to make, even 10 years ago. We buy exclusively from the local farms at this time of year, and when I have fish, it's from a real fish market/butcher. Lots of ethnic food and I don't mind eating breakfast for dinner or a sandwich. Cooking is relaxing to me, after listening to people's problems all day...
We are probably the only family that spends more on food since the kids left home .

Sounds great. I used to enjoy cooking but after a long period of severe depression I kind of lost any enthusiasm for it, and haven't found it again yet. Plus moving to the US 2 years ago, it took me a while to get used to new ingredients etc, and not being able to get some things I took for granted. Hopefully I will rekindle my interest soon.

    Saturday:
slice of whole wheat bread with soy nut butter, before ride where we aborted as it was a torrential downpour, after 11 miles
whole wheat bagel, lox light cream cheese, blueberries, coffee

salad with veggies and kidney beans, chickpeas, whole wheat deli flat with hummus

    piece of cheese

dinner at restaurant for friend's birthday: mojito, "farm salad (local lettuce, zucchini with poached egg), scallops in a lemon butter sauce, red wine

back to our house for chocolate cake and decaf

I do not feel so well today! Woke up all night with my stomach not feeling well. I think it was the cake and coffee before bed

Latte and a bagel with egg and tomato.

Pbj sandwich, fruit , a few cookies, some cake.

Ice cream, a bottle of v8, and some beef jerky and some dried fruit

A couple of powers and a coupleof bottles of Gatorade

Lentil stew, mashed potatoes, squash, salad and more cake.

I'm on a weeklong 350 mile bike trip, so I can pretty much eat what I want. Pickins can be limited, though.

I hope you're having fun, Tulip! Lentil stew sounds yummy!

Sounds good, but it's too hot to think about anything with the word "stew" in it!

    Yesterday:
    Usual cereal and 1%, OJ
Water and shot blocks on very sticky 14-mile ride
Frap w/ whipped cream and chips
Roast beef sandwich (+lettuce, tomato, cheddar), more chips, lemonade
The last of the buckeyes, tea
    Wasabi peas
    BLT, grapes

    Today:
    Cereal and 1%, OJ
Water, shot blocks on hot-but-less-sticky 24-mile ride
Frap w/ whipped cream, chips, pulled pork sandwich w/ BBQ sauce, grapes
Chicken; cabbage, carrot and jalapeno slaw; German potato salad with bacon; more grapes
    Greek yogurt with granola
At least I don't leave slime trails.
