    Cyclists are my favorite people

I just returned from a vacation that involved riding my bike in several areas - from Philly to Valley Forge, the battlefields at Gettysburg, Lancaster County, Skyline Drive and from Arlington to Mt. Vernon. My husband and I had a wonderful time and met some amazing people. One mountain biker took the time to personally escort us through the construction zone on the Schuylkill River trail and even set us up for an amazing dinner at his restaurant that night. It is great to feel a comradarie with others on the roads and trails much like I find here on this forum.

    Mine, too. And vegetable gardeners.

Once, as I was changing a flat on the side of the road, a car pulled over in front of me and asked if I needed help. I said, no but thanks, and he insisted I take an extra tube from him just in case I had another flat. He told me that he always carries a few tubes in his car just in case he sees a cyclist on the side of the road who might need one. I was so inspired by his generosity that I carry extra tubes in my car now, too.

Oooh, I like that idea. I've given out tubes when on rides (I've got spares with me in my pannier) but never thought to carry them in the car.

    Good idea!

That's such a kind act. I did stop once when I saw a woman with a flat, and offered her a ride (it was really hot out) but she declined.

That's a great idea. I'm going to do that also!
