Is it just me, or does "Russian twist" sound like a cocktail?

That was the last thing we did today. In between every set of weights we had to do 15 push ups in various configurations. The worst were the knuckle push ups!

    I need a nap.

    [squeaks] Knuckle...pushups...?

I think they made us do that once in a gym class. Never again.

TG--"One and shake, two and pour, three and lift, four and sip..." Repeat three and four ad nauseum...or at least until you run out.

Ha... yes, a minute can seem like an eternity. I use that cue on and off in class... "ok, let's do xyz for a minute... it's only a minute... we can do ANYTHING for a minute!

Good job, V... sounds like a killer workout... gonna hafta try that out. I love simple easy to follow, yet very effective.

I always wondered what that nasty exercise that the trainer makes me do while holding a 15 pound medicine ball was called.

Oh yes, that brings back nightmares of working with the personal trainer... She was great, the exercises...not so much!

Talk to me about stabilizing the spine doing those Russian twists.

I don't know if I'm not cueing properly or if my participants just don't care ... once I say "sit on your sit bones, keep your shoulders back, don't reverse the curve of your low back, don't lean back any farther than you can without tilting your pelvis back," then what???

I ended up with 140 push ups done in sets of 15 (one set of 20) over the course of the hour. We did two sets of knuckle push ups in there. They weren't too bad, other than the knuckles hurting. The worst were feet elevated on a bench, hands on the floor and you had to push yourself up off the floor - kind of like what you do when you're going to clap in between, which we also did.

It's amazing what you can do without any sort of weight equipment.

Do you do it with them? Sometimes I'm so freakin' clueless about what Shawna wants me to do, that she has to show me, or actually position me where she wants me.

Can they just sit in the position without twisting? I know sometimes it takes me a few tries to find the right balance point.
