On Thursday, June 23, Jeannie Longo (52) won her 58th French cycling title. In a Time Trial competition, Longo beat a deep field by 42 seconds. The course was 19km long, and the average speed was 38.3 KPH. The third place winner was born in 1979, the year Longo won the first of her now 58 cycling titles.
The feat has been covered in the European press, at least the one I read, and here are the links to articles in El País (Spanish), and Le Monde (French) that cover Longo's feat as well as a .pdf from the French Cycling Federation with the results of the race.
Today, I feel less old than yesterday, to be sure!
