I couldn't figure out why there were cyclists riding into my town today and camping in the local park. Turns out they are on a tour and because of the Missouri river flooding needed to stop in my town. The mayor was awesome to let them use the park.

It was SO great to talk to some people and see their bikes. My son got lots of pictures. My family is the only ones with bikes in town, so it was like being in a candy store. Everyone was so nice and happy to talk about their bikes and their experiences. I even got a few nice comments about my bike..Way cool. People like my bike!

My son, who is far more social, was out talking to everyone. I think it's really helped him get some more realistic ideas of cycling. They were impressed that a teenager was showing interest in cycling.

His true reality check was nearly getting hit in the parking lot at another bike store the other day. It wouldn't have been his fault, the lady just pulled out while he was test riding a bike, but it made him realize that people really aren't looking out for you.
