Hey everyone! Back from 10 days in Key West, it was fantastic... I think I spent more time in the water than I did out!!

Thanks Indy, it was one of the best vacations I've ever taken (and I take a lot of them ).

Speaking of vacations, DH and I are just starting to plan a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine for September of 2012. I'm beyond excited, as the trip has been on my bucket list for a while. We're going to drive (ugh!), but we'll have our touring bikes with us. I love trip planning!

Ugh; what is wrong with people? The AA in my office is a nice woman who's married to a big jerk. Their grown son isn't much better. The AA told me today that her son had to put his 15-year old cat to sleep yesterday. As she continued to tell the story, it became clear that her son sent his girlfriend to the vet with the cat. He didn't even bother to come along. As she put it, he often makes his GF "do his dirty work."

That just makes me sad. Sad for his girlfriend, who was charged with taking somebody else's pet to be put down. Even sadder for the cat herself. It's just not right.

Can you say "enabler"? Sure, I knew you could.

Yes it is sad for the cat. Hopefully kitty knew GF and wasn't too panicked. On the other hand, kitty is now out of that household and is enjoying a warm place in the sun across the rainbow bridge.

Yep. My coworker is too. She and her husband raised a son who gravitated to a young woman who is very much like Mom. No surprise there. You live what you learn (unless you pay a boatload...like me...for quality therapy).

Or you become the exact opposite of what you lived.

    Both true.
DH is an example of what Veronica said.
Most people are the opposite. It takes a lot of self awareness to purposely behave differently than your parents.
I can see it in the way my boys treat their spouses. They live what they learned.
Though one of them is trying mighty hard to "not" be like us, in other ways. But, it's in his DNA. He's the Marine who drives a Subaru, listens to NPR, and drinks wine like a pro.

I have not talked about the job search on TE. It's been stressful and yet with an interview which I feel went well on Friday and another one last month I'm waiting to hear a response from either one. Going for that back up offer but those two I am cautiously hopeful.
