Read this little gem of a story. A guy in a car stops behind this cyclist who is at a light waiting, then the driver slowly moves forward and bumps this cyclist, not once, but twice. Turns out she's an off-duty copy in DC, whips out her badge and ....

I'm thankful she was the one what was being bullied- had it been any one of us that are not police officers, he would still be on the streets bullying and possibly harming innocent citizens of the city. I'm glad she wasn't hurt- and that justice is being served.
There is such scum out there. Yes, that's judgmental, but it's true. At least the good guys won this time.

    Thanks for sharing!!

I found the story terrifying, not just the idea of being 'bumped' by someone's car at night, but the thought that these thugs might have been carrying a gun. I am glad they are off the streets, at least for a while.

I dunno, if they'd bumped redrhodie there's no telling what would've happened

Ha! Good thing they didn't have to find out. I would have done whatever I needed to to stay safe. I'm really glad this turned out well for her, too!

As for getting a description of the driver, easier said than done. She managed to look directly into the car because of traffic situations. When the stuff was thrown at me, the car was coming from behind, and I wasn't expecting it. By the time I was hit, I could only see the back of the car, so getting a visual id was impossible (until they stopped, and even then I only saw one of them very well).

I haven't heard from the prosecutor, and their hearing is Fri, so I guess they don't need me.

Thanks for sharing your story velociviexen! I'm sharing it with everyone I know! Drivers need to wake up and realize that (moms, dads, sons, daughters, loved ones, friends, human beings) are on those bikes!

It always amazes me how judgmental people can be based simply on your vehicle of choice at any given moment.

I was reading about the Big Ride Across America on a blog and one rider said that in Montana someone drove by and screamed "Get a job, you filthy hippies!" lol It's amazing what a bicycle between your legs projects to people.
