To be honest I think you will enjoy and find the Ruby more comforatble than the Amira. The Amira is designed to be raced. This means heads down, in the drops, hard out racing. For most riding (events, centuries, group rides) the Ruby is the better bike.
.... But someone suggested I go with it (a more serious biker who can't see my less serious needs) so I test rode the Amira from the shop. For 10 miles seemed fine but glad I went with the Ruby. It's in my garage as I type. Just picked it up today and rode a short ride. Waiting for evening ride (< 100 degrees) to put some miles on it. Happy with my purchase. Well... my hubby's birthday purchase for me.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!
I hate bike shops which try and sell you something just because it's on the shop floor and easier for them.
I rode with a Asian lady the other day who just brought a $7K bike. It was FAR too big for her. Her saddle was on the seat tube, she had a tiny stem, you could see her rocking on the saddle from behind as she pedalled. I told her to take it back to the shop and get them to order the smaller size and to tell them to stop being so lazy.
Brought it home Friday. Went out for my first 37 miles - combined two day total. It's a nice ride. My bike shop is wonderful. The owner is a crit racer and long distance rider. He isn't lazy by any means and he wasn't trying to set me up with just any bike. He set me up on the trainer and spent almost 3 hours; 1 1/2 for the initial fit/measurements and 1 when my bike arrived/tweaking. I go back in this week for my shoes and pedals. I'm a women's size 11. I'm using strap pedals right now.
It's a nice ride. Love it. I can't wait until my next ride tomorrow.
I tried to upload photos but didn't seem to work.
Nice bday present!
