    Kiawah Island Rides?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Hello,
I'm a posting maniac today. I was wondering if anyone lives near Kiawah Island, SC?? I've been there for the last 3 years for vacay and there are tons of greenway trails but I've heard that riding on the island is not permitted. The greenways are usually crowded w/ walkers or people on cruisers. I'd really like to keep up my riding during vacation but I'm a bit nervous b/c I"m not familiar w/ the area once I leave the island. Thanks.

I haven't been to Kiawah for 8 years, but last time we were there we rented beach cruisers and pedaled all over the island. I just google kiawah Island bike rental and several rental places came up, you could probably call them and ask if there are any parts of the island that are restricted from bike riding, it's probably not the whole island, or they would have all gone out of business already.

Me too, been 10-12 years, but biking was the main way to get around the island. Mainly beach cruiser types. Would be surprised if they've banned them.

Thanks Muirenn. Girlsubobscura, yes beach cruisers are rampant but ONLY on bike paths. As you prob are familiar with greenways, this isn't the safest for a road bike. Even if I had a cross or hybrid I wouldn't be able to go faster than 10-12mph in small stretches b/c of how crowded it is. I'd love to just hit the open road for 20-30miles.
