Still going on interviews. Number 4 is today.
I was asked back to the first one I went on, they checked my references and now I have to go back and "do more paperwork." I'm pretty sure this means I'm in. I never thought this process would take so long; very different from teaching. Now I have to decide if I want to do full time or 80% time, which will not lengthen the time for getting hours for my license by more than a few months. My goal is to not work on Wednesday, so I can go on my group rides .
I haven't been on any group rides this year, except the one I led! My mileage sucks, a combination of weather, vacation, allergies. I came home from San Diego with a sinus infection, and now it's gorgeous out. I am holding myself back from riding today, but I might take a walk. I plan to do an easy ride tomorrow, and Saturday DH and I are leading a 15 mile hilly ride Saturday, which we will ride to and back from, so that will be about 40 miles.
Got to get back on track. I feel flabby, fat, and weak.

So, today's interview was a total waste of my time. I had to drive 40 minutes to the corporate office of a huge human service agency, only to find out that the position they had me in for is not really a "clinical" position. I did get the woman to send my resume to a more appropriate division, though. When I was driving there, I noticed the traffic on the other side of the freeway was backed up (not in a spot where that would be usual) due to construction. I was about 5 miles from where I grew up, so I went home with a detour and visited my old neighborhood.
It felt creepy. About 50% or more of the houses are tear downs and have been replaced with houses that are too big for the lots. Most of the houses were ranches or split levels/small colonials. What's weird is that some of the houses (the original ones) look terrible and are in various states of disrepair, like they haven't been painted since I was a kid, some look nice, and then there are the new homes. The worst thing is my old house. It was a little bigger than most of the houses in the area and on a nice corner lot. The people we sold it to sold the house around the time I moved back to MA. Before that, it was really nice looking. Now it looks like a haunted house! The owner planted pine trees all around the lot and they are tall and not well kept. The yard is overgrown and all weeds. It just looks scary. And this is all in one of the most desirable suburbs close to Boston... it was really upsetting to see this.

Woot! I just finished a draft opinion on a case I've been working on for some time (I work for a judge). It's the hardest case I've ever been involved with--and that's saying a lot. I'm sure there's more work to be done, but it's a big relief to get a draft done. I put it on my boss's chair with a red bow on top.

Had to leave Henry Cat (the guy in my avatar) at the vet today. He peed outside the box, which is very unlike him. They did an ultrsound, and his bladder looks pretty irritated, he's dehydrated and constipated. No crystals in his urine, which is good, but they want to give him sub-q fluids and an enema. They're not sure what might have caused the underlying bladder irritation. We're supposed to go camping this weekend as part of a mtb clinic. I'd like to keep those plans. I'm planning to pick him up tomorrow morning and then work from home so that I can keep an eye on him and get him settled back in.

Ugh. I had a really bad summer last years with my pets, and I don't want to repeat that. Ever. Let's hope it's just a question of getting him rehydrated.

Poor kitty. Hopefully he'll feel better and you can still go to the clinic.

Thanks, ladies. He has a new water fountain and catnip toys waiting for him when he returns. I hate when he's not here. He's my baby.
