I have a pair of Futuro thigh-highs and a pair of pantyhose-style that I got from a medical supply place. The thigh-highs are a lot more comfortable - the grippers aren't too bad, whereas the pantyhose are even more uncomfortable around the belly and crotch than normal pantyhose. I'll wear the pantyhose if I want to stay in compression wear under slacks or jeans. I've even slept in the thigh-highs after my marathons.

Some brands are sized by shoe size. If your feet are out of proportion to the rest of your body it can be an issue. My compression pantyhose can really hurt my feet when they're swollen after a long run. OTOH, a bigger size just wouldn't fit me at all. The feet of the Futuro thigh-highs are more generously sized. Maybe because they're "unisex?"

I have been using the 2XU tights from Australia for a year now and love them. Now strangely enough, I usually take a large in womens, these I take in small (I'm 135lbs). I also have the compression sleeves as I am a weight lifter and my tendonitis acts up sometimes.

After I hike the Grand Canyon in one day, put them on, and was surprisingly recovered the next day (I had been using them a lot before this), I was sold. I wear them to bed sometimes when I am particularly sore. Just a great product.

I noticed that Zappos carries them now.
