First ever brand new bike! Bike Porn!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

After much lurking and reading of threads here extolling the virtues of various different women's road bikes I finally decided to take the plunge and buy my very own bike. Mind you, this is after decades of always using cheap/free hand-me-downs that never fit quite right and never rode quite right either. And I'm tired of riding heavy mountain bikes with slicks!

So when my tax refund hit the bank this week, I decided to hit the bike stores. About 15 test rides later, I found my One True Love and brought her home. She doesn't have a name yet, but she's an '05 Orbea Mitis Dama.

I know y'all are really just reading this for the bike porn, so here are the pics!

Even found a color coordinating seat!

Oh she's gorgeous! I don't know much about Orbea's, except they are Spanish. What kind of components did you put on her? She's so _blue_! I might name her a name that means blue, like Cielo. Or maybe something celestial, or to do with gemstones, because of the saddle. Sapphire. Dama means women-specific, right?

She is very pretty! How about Azura (which I believe means blue in spanash or italian or something). I hope you get to ride her more then I have gotten to ride my new bike, i have had her for three days and it has rained every day. I have only got to ride her in front of my house!

She's got the Ultegra component set. Actually, I'm realizing that in my twitterpated excitement yesterday I misspoke - it's not the Mitis Dama but actually the even fancier Dama Race that I ended up purchasing, in Linea Blue color. Being a clearance item, I got such a good price on it that for some reason I just convinced myself that it really must have been the more affordable Mitis. So waking up and realizing that she's even lovelier than I first thought was a nice surprise this morning.

I'm also thinking of a Spanish (or better yet, Basque) name for her. Beatriz comes to mind automatically because of Orbea, but I've never really been too fond of that name. Though I guess I could call her Aunt Bea.

Now my goal is to become a better cyclist so that I will actually be worthy of riding Her.

What a lovely bike Danyla. I am sure you are very worthy of riding her. By reading the bikes that you have ridden up to now, with a bike that fits you well, I am sure your rides will be awesome.

Wishing you much luck and many happy riding miles.

Uh Oh! I hope you've warned the people in your life that you will be less available now and that you're very sorry, but new relationships take time to build and require a lot of one on one time.

    It's beautiful! Have a blast!

    Beautiful bike.

I hate the term Bike Porn, however.
