My New Epic 29er - Complete!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I finally got my custom wheels in for my Epic 29er Comp, I have had the bike since Mid April but now it is complete.

The bike has a brain, even though I am not always sure I do! It helps regulate the rear shock, adding many more levels of adjustment to the bike.

I had these grips before the bike came in, I knew I wasn't a fan of the stock grips Specialized uses. The green doesn't match but they are really nice feel. Odi Cross Trainers with Purple lock-on clamps.

Next, a Salsa Lip Lock. Bike comes stock with a quick release collar, I don't like the quick release because they seem to slide no matter what I try to do. Shockingly the purple matched Odi's purple even they were completely different companies.

Next my shop ordered me a Specialized Zee Cage, right hand side load. This is a nice cage because it is hard to get bottles in and out on a small full suspension frame.

And finally, a work of art came in! These are the custom Industry Nine wheels I had built. I9 does all their own anodizing and laced them as well. They aren't fast on turnaround but they are amazing looking once you finally get them. The rear hub has a high number of engagement points, making the wheels seriously fast. They also are insanely stiff. Again somehow the purple matches, I was shocked and so was the shop. It is three companies doing the anodizing!

Originally they were built to drop my weight on the bike but then I decided to put heavier tires on the bike. With sharp rocks around here it is easy to slice a wheel on our trails. Plus I am a big Maxxis fan and confidence in your machine really helps.

Thanks everyone! I am really not a visually creative person but I love purple and when I saw that frame I knew it would lend itself to my purple love affair. It already has been getting attention but it was doing that with just the green. Specialized really hit it out of the park with that frame, in my completely biased opinion.

I think the purple matches because it isn't a paint, a dye, nor anything involving a pigment. Instead it is a specific chemical that causes the purple color. As long as the anodizing is done properly, it ought to develop to the same color.

hmmmm, all of that purple and green awesomeness....

ummm errrr, what I really mean is that it is horrible and so ugly! I know it has to hurt your eyes to look at it. I would hate to see you suffer so I would be happy to take it off your hands and sooner rather than later. To save your eyes, you understand, after all, I have your best interests at heart. Yeah, that's it

Seriously that is one incredible bike, now we want to see a picture of it dirty
