Corsair asked me to post a picture of my Schwinn. Her name is Gertrude. She even has a cyclometer. I've put 9.5 miles on her since Jan. 1st. (I haven't been able to put any on my road bike--it's only nice for riding while I'm at work!) She just takes me to the post office, the bank, and around the flat part of town. She lives in a back room at our business. She got a new chain last summer--it was a chain and a half! She also got new tires, cables and the works. She's lookin' good! I love her.....

What model is she?
I have a black Racer (1968)wtih big baskets. IIt's on page 19 of *last* Jan/Feb Bicycling Magazine.) When I'm riding through campus I like to toss a can in there so it rattles and people can hear me coming.
I was charging up a sort of hill to work one morning and this wizened fellow getting his mail hollers out, "Shake, rattle and ROLL, baby!!" This was not too long after I'd ridden by the armory, on a 20 degree day, and the Big Army Guy looks up and says, "I like that! I like that!"
It's funny, people just don't say that stuff to each other when they're driving cars!

I would love a bike like that or like Sue's black one. I'm a big fan of things green, so I love that color, AD. Someday I will have a large storage area and/or a garage and I will fill it with bikes. Hopefully I'll have at least one like that when I do (I still cringe when I think that I got rid of that original beach cruiser I had back in the 70s....ugh).
I don't know what model she is. I'll have to take a closer look to see. I got her at Indian Cycle Shop in Jackson,MS. The original brown was just not snappy enough. I like the idea of putting a can in the basket! I've been thinking of adding a horn; a bell is just not loud enough for Gertie.
