    aw, I love beagles

re cats in the bathroom - it's not that easy to get up and get dressed in the mornings either sometimes. Our cat is bored and social and likes to be lifted onto a lap first thing in the morning, um... let's say no matter where you might be sitting. And more often than not she'll just slide over sideways and fall splendidly asleep

    Introducing Lucy!

Almost 3 years after losing my beloved Boo-Boo cat and 1 month plus after losing Pooky-Wooky Isis kitty, DP and I went to the shelter last Friday and brought home this little bundle of energy and curiosity:

She is 1 year and 1 month and a little underweight (6.4 lbs) but we are working on that.

So far, Athena cat still hisses and growls but they did both sleep in the same bed last night for the first time.

Katy is very curious but soooooooooo wonderfully gentle with the new kitty.

LOL. Lucy is making those middle-of-the-night bathroom trips ... interesting. Can I jump up in your lap? As can be seen above, she quickly discovered the bathtubs; she also likes to bat at water in dripping from the sink and she seems fascinated with batting her paw into the toilet water. Oh, and she likes plants too. Everything is taking on aroma de bitter apple.

ooh! I'm so happy you got a black kitty! everyone should have a black cat as they tend to languish in shelters. I like how you're colour coordinated, black, white, and black and white!

Welcome, Lucy!! What a wonderful group of furbabies you have, Norsegoddess. Good on you for giving a shelter cat a home.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

Awww, so many cute photos of cats and puppies and children and...

Norsegoddess, they all look adorable, and thanks for giving a lovely little black cat a home, they do have such a hard time finding a forever home.

Thanks everyone. Lucy is our second black cat as my Boo-Boo was also black, and the most loving kitty you could have asked for. The bias against black cats is just silly IMHO. We didn't plan the black/white scheme (Athena even has a black/gray tail), it just happened!

Awwww, Goliath, what a handsome fellow! There are some photos of our Paisley earlier in this thread, but I doubt you want to go scrounging back for pages, so here's another. She's our baby, of course:

    Kitties!!!

Ee-gads. I've entered the kitty world. After 18 years of vegan pets, we now have carnivores in the house (other than us), complete with their sharp little teeth, crazy wrestling, and (pew!) stinky poops!

This past Monday, DH and I brought home two kittens from BIL/SIL's house up in NY. They had taken in a feral cat, who had 4 kittens in their den. We took 2. Still not 100% sure of the genders - we think the black is male and the grey is female, but I'm wondering if we got that backwards or if they're both female. A trip to the vet is in the plans but we're letting them settle in for now - which they seem to be doing with gusto. After one evening of hiding behind the dining room hutch (the room has been converted into kitty kindergarten for the time being, and they've adopted the back of the hutch as their favorite hidey-spot, much to our chagrin), they have become more bold and less skittish. Our neighbor's minivan with the loud muffler still startles them, but they are bolting less frequently to our walking around.

Tentative names are: black one = Paris (as in the Trojan prince), and the grey one is Zoe. They are really enjoying their jungle gym. They learned how to get on top of it last night - and constantly battle for the high ground in their ongoing wrestling matches.

Enjoy having the kittens! They can get a little frustrating, especially if they don't have a playmate, but they are loads of fun Thanks for sharing!
