Anyone have any good tri training this weekend?

I am hoping to get out in open water sometime this week so I can try out my new wetsuit. Otherwise, I am tapering!

Dropping off my bike to tribike transport today!

    Kacie-When do you leave?

I did bike hills on the weekend. 12 X. Up and down amounted to about 55km. Last night I pre-ran 5K run course I will be running after California. It is s-l-o-w-l-y gettting warmer. Bugs were out. I was deluged by tiny gnats on that run - they were in my mouth, eyes, plastered to my moist neck and my shirt. MMMM, protein! Supposed to rain for the next 2-3 days. If it's not too bad, will take the bike out. If it is a deluge of biblical proportions, I guess I'll be putting my bike back on the trainer!

I got to do my first longer ride outside last weekend. Ahh, that was nice! My legs took it well, my neck and shoulders were a little tired but all in all it was much better than I expected for 3 hours mostly aero.

I usually wear 2 pairs of shorts for Ironman (tri shorts and regular shorts), but I'm debating it. If I can find a good pair of tri shorts whose grippers stay in place, I'll probably just wear them by themselves. I wore my Zoots this weekend and one of the legs wanted to roll. But... my butt didn't hurt any more than it does when I wear 2 pairs of shorts. I guess past a certain point, you just don't care anymore. Makes it easy to find your sit bones?

The run on Sunday in warmer weather (we're talking 12-14 miles in 55-60 degrees here, not "hot") was ... bleh. I sweat so much, so salty. I usually do my long runs later in the day on purpose - realistically, I'm not going to be off my bike for 7 hours into the day, which is 2pm - but it's going to take some adapting as the weather actually turns to spring.

Back to raining... rode on the trainer today. Supposed to be nice again this weekend, I'm looking forward to it. I've been doing my non-swim-training at all hours of the day - running at dusk or at lunch, biking late at night. However you get in the miles is how you get in the miles...

Also, I'm very excited to see our forum's first Ironman adventure of 2011 soon!

I hope you have a great race Kacie! Wow it is coming up fast!. I have some friends racing IM St Georges so it will be fun to watch all of you!
I have had a weird year so far..Training has been inconsistent..just life stuff..I realize now how lucky I was last year to just be able to train with none of the other stuff getting in the way..you all know I am sure..the usual work and family commitments. My first 1/2IM is coming up in 4 weeks! Yikes! I hope I can get it together before then- i hate feeling unprepared going into these things..I think I have still enough time to pull something together for IMC as I would like not just to complete it but improve my time from last year.

Thanks!!! Thanks for the blog follow too Glad you like my crazy little adventures!

I logged my last "real" workout yesterday. 45 minutes open water swim, 2 hours 45 minutes on the bike, and about 45 minutes of running. Finished the 4+ hour workout with my friends, and felt like we had just gotten started. That is a GOOD feeling a week out from IM! 4 hours should feel easy at this point--I know that sounds nuts.

Now it is time to really honestly rest. I have dinner with my training partners and coach on Monday and we fly out wednesday.

I am not really sure how this race is going to turn out. There are SO many factors going on. Cold water, climbs on the ride, wind, heat, climbs in the marathon--AND my training cycle started late due to injury from that 50K. BUT--my recovery between the huge workouts has been awesome, and I might just be ready for a really good race. Who knows?! To be perfectly honest, I just want to see that finish line. That is a really really really good place!

I will put up tracking stuff soon! I actually have to grocery shop for my weird carb deplete/carb load that I swear works for me, and start to pack!
