On Thanksgiving, she fractured her left leg when a little girl made a left turn directly into her wheel. We were on our way back (North) from Palos Verdes on that bike path. A few months earlier, a little boy crossed in front of her and casued her a very serious hip/pelvic/groin/back injury. Last weekend (Superbowl Sunday) my husband and I were trying to avoid the strand portion of the bkie path in Hermosa Beach (with all those kids, roller skaters, dogs, etc.) so we were on the street when he had his accident and fractured his pelvis. His bike, of course, is Okay. Generally speaking, I think that riding streets is safer than bike paths. We just need to be really watchful; anticipate cars' and pedestrian's actions, be predictable in our riding and protect our front wheels.
