First sprint of the season this Sunday. A short 1.5 miles from my house. Can't pass it up! Then I've got a long Olympic in May and July. Back down to Sprints later in the year.

Hello!
We are in spring (feels like summer in atlanta), and I was wondering what everyone is up to training-wise. Anyone have races coming up from that 2011 race schedule thread?!
Maybe I am just ready to talk about my first on eIM St. George is 3 weeks from this saturday
May 7th. Jeez. It has come fast! I only have a bit more of the hard stuff before I get to taper...which is good, because my legs are tired!
Anyone else getting out there now? Races coming up? It's warm enough to get this tri talk going!

Kacie - Good luck with St. Georges IM!
I have the Boston Marathon in 6 days! That's where most of my focus has been, still been swimming and biking (mostly indoors). After the marathon will shift focus to upcoming races. Plan to start the season with a sprint in June, undecided which one. Registered for an OLY July 17th and my first HIM Aug 21st.
I have my first duathlon on Saturday, the 16th. If I'm not trained enough for it now, I won't ever be!
After this, I (strangely) have nothing scheduled until August, when I have another duathlon and a triathlon (a sprint...my first ever solo!).
I will definitely need some mid-summer events to keep me motivated and trained. A friend is hosting a "3 Winery Bike Tour in June" which I will do. Sounds great - loads of biking and wine drinking. Two of my favorite things!But...not exactly prime "training" material....

2003 Klein Palomino - Terry Firefly (?)
2010 Seven Cafe Racer - Bontrager InForm

Good luck, Kacie! And to sgf running the Boston and to Hulagirl and 7rider. Give us reports when you are finished, ok?
I am training for the Memphis in May Sprint which I hope will be my first completed OWS, several local sprints and an Olympic later in the summer. I've also signed up for the Rock N Roll St. Louis HM in October and am planning a week long bike trip to Door County, Wisconsin in August. Other than that, just running, biking and swimming![]()

I don't know about Utah, but we're VERY springy up here, still with nights into the 30s and days barely in the 50s. We have yet to see a day reach 60 degrees. Not that you can control the weather on race day, but I'd be afraid to put my little toes in the water here on May 7Here's to hoping for some warming weather in the next few weeks.
I am racing Ironman CdA, last Sunday in June, and a lot of misc stuff through the summer. My first race after that is 2 weeks later, it's just a sprint but I think it's going to hurt.My big picture goal this year is to try to adapt better to warmer weather and test traveling and racing. I will be doing the LA Triathlon in October (or is it September?) and Ironman Florida in November.
I doubt I'll do anything but running races before Ironman - 12k beginning of May, a half marathon around memorial day, etc.
2011 here we come!
I have a super sprint May 1, a multi state bike race May 14, a sprint May 22, a Sprint July 24, an open water swim race July 23, and Chicago Triathlon (olympic) on August 28. I'll do some running races in between too.
I'm so excited for this year!
Wow Kacie- that came up fast! How's the new bike?
Did an 8k 2 weeks ago, going to do some cycling in California first week of May, a 5k road race when I get back. First du is May 23rd. I'm doing races every other weekend in the summer. Will do my first (gulp) half Mary ( I think I'll be calling it a Hail Mary....) in October.
Did hills tonight. 38.6km of them. It is still very cold and windy. -3 C tonight, winds from the east 35-45kph. We may get 1 cm of snow on Sunday. *sigh* I keep telling myself that this weather is making me mentally stronger....
7rider and sgf- both competing this weekend- have way too much fun!!

I have my first tri of the season tomorrow, a sprint in Virginia. Water temp: 68F
I'm ready to rock and roll!![]()
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Did our Pre-Tri Mini Tri this morning (basically we do everything like a real triathlon, at location and everything with all our gear - but we only swim, bike and run for 10 min each) and had a blast. I'm so ready. My hip is still a little wonky and I'm not quite 100% due to the norovirus this past week - but I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
I'm hoping the winds will stay out of the west which means the ocean will stay somewhat calm and jelly-fish free. Today it was clear and just beautiful - ripples of white sand below me. I felt like I was flying. I love swimming at Kailua beach, but only when the winds are out of the west!
T1/T2 sucks though. We have to run with our bikes for a quarter mile! Then mount. Then do the opposite on the way back in. Yikes! And we have a quarter mile run on the beach just before the finish. Oh well...should make for a very sloppy finish for me.
Good news is that my sausage suit (my 1 piece tri suit) isn't as tight as it was last year. Might have something to do with the 6.5 lbs I lost this week due to the sickness! Oh well. It will be back I'm sure!
Have a great weekend everyone. I'm hydrating and resting up for the early morning start and swim/bike/run tomorrow morning!
Denise
Congrats on your great race today in rotten conditions.
Regina took 2nd place in her AG, in her first multisport race! I trained her well
I can help you fill in that calendar; a race a month? After this, I (strangely) have nothing scheduled until August, when I have another duathlon and a triathlon (a sprint...my first ever solo!).
Can you be ticketed for BUI? Where will this be?I will definitely need some mid-summer events to keep me motivated and trained. A friend is hosting a "3 Winery Bike Tour in June" which I will do. Thanks.
Ha! t won't tell you all how many there were in my age group....(but there were more than 2!). This race - my first solo multi-sport race and first duathlon (other than in training with my club's run-bike-run workouts) was a huge learning experience. I would have preferred a lesson held in more ideal weather conditions, but lessons come as the come - sometimes you can't pick and choose! Looking at the results, I was up against some smokin' fast runners. I held my own on the bike, I think, but the run times were just crazy fast. I did as expected for my own ability - but I was definitely in the rookie league there.
Not sure I want to find out about BUI. We'll have a SAG van or two following behind (non-drinker) in case you find wine(s) you like a little too much!
It leaves out of Poole's General Store and heads up into Northern MoCo and around the Sugarloaf area. I know of one winery up there - I didn't know there were 3.

7rider-
If the condtions for your du are anything like what I ran in this morning - sleet, hail, incredible wind- you need extra congrats and a BIG glass of wine. Awesome finish for your first. I don't think one du a month is a stretch....

Well, my first tri of 2011 is in the books. Not bad, but not what I was hoping for. My swim was worse than my worse-case predictions!
Lots of wind on the bike, but I did pretty well there. Run wasn't too bad, either. And I seem to excel in transitions.
5/11AG, 88/251F (rank matched my race number!)
The whole area was muddy and swampy from yesterday's rains, and the last 1/2mile of the run was uphill on a muddy trail; it was just cruel. I heard that some runners lost one or both shoes in the mud
ETA: they've posted the age group results and my run was 3rd best in AG, by far the best I've ever done in a tri!![]()
